Modele economique Urban Cool Islands

Market and business modelling for urban cool islands

Urban heat islands (UHIs) are increasingly prevalent in EU cities due to the combined impact of climate change and high rates of urbanisation. UHIs not only degrade urban quality of life through increased air pollution and thunderstorms, but also adversely affect human health by exacerbating allergies, cardiovascular issues, and mortality during heat wave episodes.

Veolia is developing urban cooling systems that make use of non-drinkable water to contribute to the creation of cool islands in cities. LGI was appointed to study the market potential of the solutions and their potential business models.

OUR ROLE

  • Market potential validation: characterisation of UHI in Europe (location, level, frequency, impact, etc.); assessment of needs and actions in French and Italian cities
  • Business model definition: competitive analysis (offer and market positioning); market positioning and business strategy
  • In-depth market assessment: Detailed analysis including value chain mapping, identification of market penetration drivers and barriers, and potential quantification
  • Go-to-market strategy and action plan (operational marketing and communication)
