MTES - Plateformes transport
Economic and legal analysis of digital platforms in the transport sector
Multi-sided digital platforms are playing a vital transformative role in today's economies by harnessing the 'power of the crowd' to connect stakeholders and create value from vast amounts of diverse data. In the mobility sector, these platforms have significantly enhanced user experience by addressing challenges in innovative ways. However, they also present new challenges, including competition with traditional businesses, social precarity for gig economy workers, and legal uncertainties.
In revising the regulatory framework, the French transport ministry has raised important questions regarding the status of these platforms and the strategic options for regulating them while fostering innovation.
