Workshop on potential action paths for the copper industry
OFREMI, the French observatory of mineral resources for industrial sectors, is a public-private partnership coordinated by BRGM, established to address the increasing risks associated with mineral resources in France and Europe. It aims to support industries in strategic intelligence, tackle sovereignty challenges, and develop an information system to manage complex issues.
Four working groups were established, including one on copper, which operated for 1.5 years and concluded in mid-2025. This group aimed to provide recommendations for policymakers to mitigate potential global copper deficits, contributing to France's copper supply strategy, with an emphasis on industrial policy and the circular economy.
