[ACE project] Strategic support for the anticipation of future skills in the automotive sector

In line with its mission, the French Platform for the Automotive industry (PFA) aims to anticipate changes in skills and jobs, in line with the major transitions expected by the sector: autonomous and connected vehicles, electric vehicles (EVs), lightweighting / new materials, new mobility...

The PFA and the Mov'eo competitiveness cluster (now NextMove) thus joined forces to mobilize automakers and tier-1 suppliers around a joint forward-looking reflection on the professions, and skills, needed by 2025. The aim was to prioritize the creation of the training courses needed to maintain the leading position of the French automotive sector.

• Strategy workshops with the top industries of the sector: PSA (now Stellantis), Renault, Faurecia (now Forvia), Michelin, Plastic Ommium (now OPmobility), Valeo
• Identification of future skills requirements for the automotive industry, in light of evolutions in the sector (electric, connected, autonomous vehicles…), characterisation
• Mapping of the supply in higher education and training to answer future skills requirements
• Gap analysis and recommendations
