Full-value chain Optimised Climate User-centric Services for Southern Africa: FOCUSAfrica

TheFOCUS-Africa project developes sustainable tailored climate services to support improved climate-related outcomes in key climate-sensitive sectors: agriculture and food security, water, energy and infrastructure.

Eight case studies in six countries have been assessed and tested on how climate services could be operationalised through the hydro-meteorological systems and institutional infrastructure of the WMO. This illustrated how the use of climate science, forecasts and projections could maximise socio-economic benefits to specific national private and public sectors in the region. The full value chain of climate services was demonstrated and the lessons learned shared to upscale to other countries in Africa as well as in Europe.
